Kathmandu Valley: The Valley is nestled on the lap of mighty Himalayas at an altitude of over 1000 meters. In the Valley, hills sprout up and down and offer spectacular views of the mountains from the top. Hindu and Buddhist shrines of Kathmandu Valley offer fascination and solace for local people. During festivals, hordes descend at these shrines making it a cacophony of celebrations. Bells and whistles ring loud, inviting gods to protect them. The people of the Valley are equally fascinating, especially the Newars, who were here before anyone and have evolved into an ethnic group of rich culture. It’s the Newari festivals and the medieval houses that make Kathmandu a cultural destination to visit.
