Language and Culture Programs (2 Weeks)
Volunteer Alliance Nepal offers two weeks of language and cultural immersion program in Kathmandu. The main aim of this program is to give volunteers insights into local language, culture, history, visit popular places, local villages and meet people. The first week of the program begins with orientation and language classes. In the language class, you’ll learn how to communicate with locals using simple Nepali words. You’ll also visit many interesting places during sightseeing part of the week and learn more about Nepali culture and religion.
In the second week, you’ll stay in a quaint Nepali village. You’ll learn to cook Nepali food, visit local villages, interact with locals and hike to vantage point to see the beautiful mountains of Nepal, weather permitting. After the village stay, you’ll travel to Chitwan National Park to safari. The second week program covers rafting, jungle safari, witness ethnic Tharu dance, village visit and more. Upon completion of 2 weeks program, you’ll gain deep insight into Nepali way of life. You’ll then be fully prepared to work in the project and make your stay very rewarding.

02 Day |
At Volunteer Alliance痴 hostel, you値l get an extensive orientation program. The program will cover issues of volunteering, current security, political, social and economical issues. Listen carefully and ask questions that you that pertains to your stay and work.
In the afternoon, you池e Nepali language class will start. Study for about 90 minutes. Rest of the evening is free to do what you like. |
03 Day |
You値l study Nepali language for 3-4 hours everyday. You値l start after breakfast, break for lunch, and continue for about 90 minutes after that. The evening is free for you to enjoy.

04 Day |
Tour of Kathmandu Valley: Full day of sightseeing to visit the attractions of Kathmandu Valley. You値l travel to visit Bouddha, where you値l not only see one of the largest Buddhist Stupa in the world, but you値l also witness vibrant cultures of northern Nepal in and around the stupa.
In Pashupatinath, watch hordes of Hindu pilgrimages and saints and watch fascinating temples.
In Swayumbhu, see spectacular views of Kathmandu Valley and marble at the Buddhist stupa built atop a hill. All these sites have been listed in World Heritage sites.

05 Day |
Continue with your Nepali language class for 3-4 hours a day. Evening free for you to enjoy.

06 Day |
Continue with your Nepali language class. In the evening, you値l be involved in a half day sightseeing tour of Chovar. You値l see Chovar gorge, where Bagmati river flows out of Kathmandu Valley. Watch Kathmandu and Chovar valleys from there and marvel at the sight of Champa Devi, the highest hill south of Chovar.

07 Day |
In the morning, you値l revise what you致e learned in Nepali class so far. In the afternoon, a small test will take place. The person coming first will receive a small prize. There値l be a small celebration, with light snacks and beverages to mark the occasion.

The schedule may vary a bit but you値l follow more or less the same format.
Second Week Program
The second week sees you venture out of Kathmandu for village home stay, where you値l learn rural Nepali way of life. From there, you値l move onwards to Chitwan, where along the way to Chitwan you値l be involved in thrills and spills of rafting. In Chitwan, you値l safari on an elephant back to spot the elusive and the biggest cat of all in the wild, the Tiger.
08 Day |
The village is about 45 minutes drive from Volunteer Alliance痴 hostel. Leave after lunch. Upon arrival, the group leader will introduce you to the facilities and explain more about Nepal痴 religion and culture. |
09 Day |
Enjoy waking up in the rural village amidst birdsongs and meows of the cows. After lunch, you値l be involved in a hike where you値l visit the lush and magnificent landscape and arrive at Laakuri Bhanjyang. From there, you値l see spectacular views of Kathmandu Valley. |
10 Day |
You値l visit Bindebasini, a Hindu temple in the morning to observe how religious rites and prayers take place. Following lunch, visit local villages in Sisneri, Bhaltaar, Thaur gau and Lamatar. Observe how the locals go about living their daily lives.
Evening will bring dance and music. You値l watch local ethnic dance and you can also learn to shake to the beat of all instruments. |
11 Day |
After lunch, you値l return to Kathmandu and prepare to depart for Chitwan next day. |
12-14 Day |
For 3 nights and 4 days, you値l be involved in white water rafting, village walks, safari on an elephant back and witness cultural show.
On the way to Chitwan, you値l get off from the traveling vehicle at Charudi and take to the raft. Until Kuringhat, you値l white water raft and enjoy the rapids. The journey can take place between 1 to 4 hours, depending on the season and flow of the river. |
Chitwan National Park
The park likes on the flat land, called the inner Terai region of Nepal. The park is famous for birds, antelopes, rhinos, crocodiles and the Bengal Tigers. Tharu, an ethnic group of Nepal, lives around the park. You値l visit the park on foot and on the back of the elephant and enjoy the cultures of Tharu.
After the 2 week language of course, you値l then start your volunteer abroad program fulfilled prepared.
