Profiles of Children in Fresh Orphanage Nepal
The orphanage currently is looking after 14 children, 4 girls and 10 boys. Most of them are orphaned while few come from very poor family, whose parents are unable to raise them. They’re all from remote regions of Nepal. These children are:
Durga Lohar
Durga is 10 years old. She comes from remote far western region and has lived in the orphanage for a year. Her father left her mother when she was in her mother’s womb and her mother died at childbirth. She survived through the efforts of her cousins but as they were very poor, she wasn’t able to get any education and proper meal. She has two sisters, all of whom are married and an elder brother who is studying at class nine.
Durga is presently studying in Class 3. In future, Durga aspires to become a nurse. She enjoys playing with her friends in the orphanage.
Soniya Lama
Soniya comes from mountainous region of Kavrepalanchowk. She is 6 years old and arrived at the orphanage 2 years back. Both her parents are alive but her father is a disable and doesn’t work, while her mother farms on very little land they have left to work with. She has 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Due to large family, her parents were unable to feed Soniya. Recognizing this, the Village Development Committee in Soniya’s village recommended her to the orphanage. The orphanage gladly accepted Soniya.
Soniya is an exceptionally talented kid. She studies in UKG in nearby Mary Bert Boarding School and has already learned to draw pictures and sing nursery rhymes. In the future, she wants to become an artist.
Rosani Lohar
Rosani arrived through the recommendation of her Village Development Committee 2 years back. She comes from Darchula, very remote region in the western Nepal, where the society is very traditional and caste system is still very rigid. Rosani belongs to lower caste, which means her family is deprived of education by people of higher caste. She’s 7 years old and both her parents are deceased.
Rosani is progressing well in her studies. She stood first in her UKG class test. She enjoys playing with her friends from school and orphanage.
Kamal Tata
Kamal Tata is 9 years old and arrived at the orphanage 2 years back. Kamal comes from Darchula, a very remote region in western Nepal. Kamal is an orphan and was raised by his cousins before arriving in the orphanage.
Kamal is presently studying in class 2. His favorite subject is Math and he wants to become an engineer in future. His main worry in school is his English which he wants to speak well in future.
Gajendra Dhami
Gajendra is 10 years old and arrived in the orphanage 2 years back. He lost both his parents when he was 7 and came to the orphanage through the recommendation of his Village Development Committee.
Gajendra is currently studying in Class 4 and says he likes to study. He wants to become an engineer in future. He also helps out with other work in the orphanage.
Janak Tamata
Janak is 9 years old and comes from Darchula, a remote region in the western Nepal. He lost both his parents when he was 6 year old. Before joining the orphanage, he survived by working.
Janak is presently studying in class 2. He considers science as his favorite subject and wants to contribute something to Nepal in future.
Mahesh Tamang
Mahesh is 8 years old and joined the orphanage 2 years back. The orphanage doesn’t have any background on Mahesh as he was living in street before arriving to FN.
Mahesh is studying in class 2 and likes math and science. He has been recommended because of his good manners. He also likes to help other children in the orphanage.
Govin Tamata
Govin is 6 years old and arrived in the orphanage from Darchula, a remote region in western Nepal, about 2 years back. Both his parents are deceased and he has 2 sisters. He is a shy child.
Govin studies in LKG and enjoys both studying and playing.
Suraj Kumar Ram Dam
Suran is 7 years old and comes from Chitwan, a region in central Nepal. Both his parents are deceased and he arrived through the recommendation of his Village Development Committee.
Suraj studies in class 2. He wants to become an engineer in the future and wants to study hard for that. In his free time, he wants to play with his friends.
Subash Dobal
Subash is 6 years old and very shy. He arrived 2 years back to the orphanage after both his parents died. He has 1 brother and 1 sister.
Subash studies in UKG and likes to play with his friends. He considers respecting the elders as very important.
Aman Tamang
Aman is 5 years and is the youngest child in the orphanage. He comes from Lalitpur, the area where orphanage currently rents the property. Both of his parents have passed away and he doesn’t have any memory of them.
Aman studies in LKG.
Anil Dahal
Anil is 6 years old. He was found by police and handed over to the orphanage about 2 years back. No information about his background exists.
He studies in class 1 and has lots of energy as he is extremely fond of playing.
Anjila Gurung
Anjial is 6 years old. Her father died when her mother was pregnant with her and her mother abandoned her shortly after that. She arrived in the orphanage 18 many months back.
She is presently studying in nursery and wants to be a nurse when she grows up.
Dinesh Mahatta
Dinesh is 5 years old and both his parents are crippled and unable to work. He has two brothers and as his parents couldn’t feed Dinesh, he was recommended to the orphanage by his Village Development Committee. He arrived a year back. Dinesh is currently studying in nursery.
